Best Actress (1964) for Mary Poppins
Nowadays it's difficult to see Julie Andrews as anything other than a showbiz legend. However, she was little more than an unknown English actress until she got her big break in 1964 playing the titular role in Disney's classic Mary Poppins. An Academy Award soon followed and Andrews went on to achieve further acclaim in 1965 with a similarly iconic performance as Maria von Trapp in The Sound of Music.
