The fact that the Oscars are broadcast live always holds out hope that there will be a streaker across the the stage or Melissa Leo will use the F-word, like she did accepting her award for The Fighter. Cirque du Soleil's live tribute to the moviegoing experience, scored by Tim Burton's regular collaborator Danny Elfman was perhaps unnecessary but at least provided us with the chance to wonder - not hope, no - whether or not something would go wrong. It didn't, fortunately, save for Kermit and Miss Piggy's excruciating introduction, and one gymnast falling over.
