The Academy already loves Marion Cotillard and she’s upped her chances of another gong by playing a wheelchair-bound whale trainer in this engaging French drama. Ah, there’s the snag – it’s French, and it’s not even France’s submission for the Foreign Language category (that goes to the very Hollywood-friendly Untouchable). The main heat stays with Cotillard on this one, even though director Jacques Audiard certainly deserves a nod.
