Denzel Washington recently entered the Best Actor race thanks to an acclaimed turn as a drunken, drug-using pilot who has to try to land a plane (and then deal with the consequences). It’s an edgier-than-usual turn in a very character-driven film so he could be in with a real chance. As for Flight in the Best Picture category, the jury’s still out.
