Husband and wife directing team Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris had rights to their film bought by Fox Searchlight Pictures in 2006. The deal that purchased this film was one of the biggest in the history of Sundance premiered films. The American comedic tale of one family (notable actors include Greg Kinnear, Steve Carell and the young Abigail Breslin) went on to net a massive $100.5 million and scoop up multiple awards.
