It may seem a little crazy to refuse a Golden Globe honour, but two awards have been rejected over the 70 years. The production team of 1969 French film Z refused their Best Foreign Language film award because they wanted their film to be included in the Best Motion Picture category, while in 1973 Marlon Brando turned down his honour for Best Actor in The Godfather as a way of protesting against American ‘imperialism and racism’.
