We’re sure the editors have been furiously re-cutting this year’s in memoriam reel following the recent deaths of Shirley Temple, Maximilian Schell, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Harold Ramis. Glenn Close presented the sombre segment as we were reminded of all the other fallen stars of the past 12 months, following which Bette Midler performed “Wind Beneath My Wings” -- an apt number for such a touching moment and perfect follow-up to last year’s singer, Barbra Streisand.
