Best Actor: The Pianist (2002)

It seems like only yesterday Adrien Brody made Oscar award-show history when he bounded onstage and planted a kiss on a surprised Halle Berry before nabbing his golden boy. But ever since his well-deserved win in Roman Polanski's masterful Holocaust movie, well ... no one's hot on the guy. Which is strange because before his Oscar win, Brody was something of a critical favourite, making memorable turns in more independent fare such as King of the Hill, The Thin Red Line and Summer of Sam. But since his win, Brody's done less-than-impressive turns in flops like The Jacket; was upstaged by Naomi Watts and a CGI ape in King Kong; and lost the role of The Joker in Christopher Nolan's upcoming The Dark Knight to Heath Ledger.
