Best Supporting Actress: Paper Moon (1973)

Tatum O' Neal was not only cute-as-a-button in Paper Moon but somewhat formidable. But the plucky kid didn't entirely benefit from quick ascension to stardom, suffering not only the Oscar curse but also the curse of the child star as well. For a brief moment, the daughter of Ryan O'Neal was the highest-paid child star, and though she did go on to make one of the great children's films (The Bad News Bears), she could never top her early triumphs into adulthood. Leading a fast life, Tatum eventually married hot-tempered tennis star John McEnroe and attempted to raise a family. But then there was divorce, drug addiction and just not enough work.
