Don't understand the hype about my item song: Chitrangada
The song sees Chitrangada bearing a striking resemblance to that of Madhuri's look in the song "Humko Aajkal Hai" from 'Sailaab'.
The actress said she fails to understand why she is so much in the spotlight for just doing a song.
"Its just a song at the end of the day and I don't understand what is the big deal about an item number. We had songs in 'Mughal-e-Azam' and they were never termed as item songs. You just remember the song and the dance and it's beautiful," Chitrangada told us.
"If we do it in a certain way, and there is nothing objectionable about the lyrics or dance steps. Then I don't know why anything becomes objectionable or has to be explained," she added.
The 36-year-old actress also does not like being counted in the league of actors who have turned into item girls.
"I get irritated by the term item number but I understand that it is the way people understand that you are not a part of the film but just doing a song.
"I think it's about just tagging the actor. It's good to keep changing tags as an actor, I have been tagged before and now I have got another one," she said.
Choreographed by Farah Khan, the song is inspired from Madhuri's dance moves and Chitrangada says she wanted to bring about the dancing diva's sensuousness to the song.
