"I think you can't live your life trying to seek acceptance from other people, which is unfortunately what we do most of the time. If you really believe in what you do, then it should not really matter what other people think," the 29-year-old told us.
"At the end of the day you have to live with the choices you have made and there is nothing much you can do about it. It's hard, many times for actors," she added.
She gave an example of Irrfan Khan, who despite being known for his power-packed performances, is not in the league of big names.
"Despite Irrfan being a brilliant actor, he is not the biggest star in India because of the choices he made and the kind of cinema he does, but that is a personal choice and I think they have very fulfilling lives," she said.
Kalki will be next seen in 'Ek Thi Daayan'.
