Mumbai: Viewers of all age groups can enjoy Abhishek Kapoor's latest offering 'Kai Po Che!', an adaptation of Chetan Bhagat's novel 'The 3 Mistakes Of My Life', as it has been awarded a U-certificate by the censor board.
An elated Kapoor, who rose to fame with the success of his directorial venture 'Rock On!!', said: "'Kai Po Che!' has got a U certificate from the censor board with no cuts. They saw the film for what it is and the spirit it is made in. I'm delighted."
Set in Ahmedabad, the story is about three friends, their dreams, aspirations and how they struggle to realise their goals while facing several roadblocks including their own mistakes.
'Kai Po Che!', featuring Sushant Singh, Raj Kumar Yadav and Amit Sadh in the lead roles, hits the screens on February 22.
"The censor board wanted the movie to reach to the masses and go as wide as possible due to the very strong and powerful message it delivers and hence gave it a U-rating," a source close to the team told IANS.
With this new development Siddharth Roy Kapur, managing director, Studios, Disney UTV, seems to be happy.
"We commend the censor board for its progressive stance in passing 'Kai Po Che!' with a U-certification. It bodes well for the new generation of filmmakers and studios that we have the active support and encouragement of the censor board to continue to create cinema that pushes the boundaries. Their spontaneous and effusive reaction to the film was very motivating for all of us associated with it," said Kapoor.
