Khandelwal to play a detective in 'Samrat & Co'
Mumbai: Rajeev Khandelwal will be seen as a detective in his upcoming film 'Samrat & Co', a detective thriller produced by Kavita Barjatya under the Rajshri banner.
Kavita will be taking Rajshri, which is known for their family dramas, to a dynamic and contemporary curve with her maiden production starring Rajeev Khandelwal and Madalsa Sharma.
The suspense-adventure will see Rajeev as the main lead in the film which is scheduled to release on May 1, 2014.
This will be the first detective film from Rajshri, among a series of movies lined up in this genre by other filmmakers next year.
Other films in this space include 'Mr Joe B Carvalho' starring Arshad Warsi and Soha Ali Khan where the actor does a Steve Martin, playing a bumbling sleuth like Martins Jacques Clouseau in 'The Pink Panther' series. This is the first release of 2014.
This will be followed by Anurag Basu's 'Jagga Jasoos' starring Ranbir Kapoor, Dibakar Bannerjee's 'Detective Byomkesh Bakshi' with newcomer Sushant Singh Rajput.
Actress Vidya Balan will be seen as Bobby Jasoos in a film to be directed by newcomer Samar Sheikh while Anushka Sharma plays a detective in Navdeep Singh's NH10.
