It's my first time: Pankaj Kapur

Ace actor-director Pankaj Kapur is going all out to get things right for his directorial outing.

It's my first time: Pankaj Kapur

With a few days to the release of 'Mausam', Pankaj Kapur's directorial debut, the veteran actor is going through a flurry of emotions. With promotions on in full swing, he wants to make sure everything is in place with the film. And needless to say, son Shahid Kapur too is hands-on in this project with his father.

Apart from direction, 'Mausam' also sees Pankaj make his debut as a singer. He has lent his voice to "Sajj dhaj ke...", a number which is already topping music charts, along with Mika Singh. "I am glad the film's music has been appreciated ever since it hit the stands," says the film-maker, adding, "Everyone has worked very hard on the film and the audience reaction is quite encouraging too."

A source from the production unit says, "Pankaj loves music and has immense knowledge of Punjabi folk songs. In fact, he kept giving a lot of valuable inputs to the music of the film. He's known to sing informally to his friends but had never thought of singing live or even recording. And he was very excited to have sung to a live audience at the music launch of the film, especially, with his wife Supriya and son, Shahid in the audience." Now, what we need to wait and watch is whether Pankaj manages to sing his way into the hearts of the audience as well.

Dressed to kill

Such was Shahid Kapur's dedication to 'Mausam' that he has devoted two years, keeping all other projects on hold, to achieve the perfect look for his character. And his effort seems to be paying off -- what with a lot of praise coming in from young students at the National Defense Academy.

An official spokesperson confirms, "In his Air Force uniform, classic moustache and Aviators, Shahid has been getting innumerable letters -- to be precise, 1,006 -- from students at NDA, appreciating the look and thanking him for carrying the uniform off with such style and poise. It's truly overwhelming and humbling too."
