One mess of a grand 'mela', this Aamir Khan flick of 2000 was imminently forgettable for its story-line, execution and even for the perfectionist actor. Talk about career mistakes - but then, it is this vulnerability that makes celluloid stars appear real and human, isn't it? A revenge story set in the backdrop of a village carnival (and hence the name), Mela is vintage Bollywood - the sort of movies that used to be made in the 80s. A clear aberration for sensibilities in Y2K!
