From a sickly-sweet teen star to a twerking 20-something: Miley Cyrus’ evolution into pop royalty has hit new heights.

But have we got the booty-shaking, diamond grill wearing songstress all wrong?

“People have this misconception of me that I'm just one of these kids on TV and that now I go off and party and I'm just this ratchet white girl, and I'm not,” Miley told Notion magazine.

“I work really, really hard, I'm just in a different environment. I'm young and living and in LA which is everyone's dream, you know.”

Miley’s come a long way from her humble beginnings on Hannah Montana to where she is today. The Party in the U.S.A singer has avoided the dreaded child-star curse of spiralling into a drink and drugs addiction, instead steadily climbing the music charts with her own style of music.

So what’s next for the 20-year-old?

“I was thinking about dropping the Cyrus and just being Miley, but there's something powerful about the fact that my name is now a household name.”

But the question on everybody’s lips is, will Miley be taking fiancé Liam Hemsworth’s second name anytime soon – or has the pair’s once budding romance finally fizzled out?

Remaining tight-lipped about the subject, Miley spoke about her life at the moment, saying: “I'm living it to the fullest.”

And it would seem the star is doing just that: her latest single We Can’t Stop has been hugely successful, and the video has become the fastest video to reach 100 million views on Vevo – overtaking the previous record holder, Eminem’s 2010 hit Love The Way You Lie, featuring Rihanna.

With lyrics like: “It’s my mouth I can say what I want to” and  “Everyone in line in the bathroom, trying to get a line in the bathroom,” it’s probably safe to assume the singer’s reworking from Hannah Montana to rebellious Miley Cyrus is complete.

What’s next for Miley? Who knows, but with her third studio album due for release in autumn we’re sure there’s plenty more from the Can’t Be Tamed singer to come.
