As the 90s dawned it came time to bid farewell to the original Enterprise crew who’d made their final voyage to the final frontier. In an effort to ensure the movie went out on a high the franchise once again turned to Wrath of Khan helmer Nicholas Meyer who helped to deliver an excellent adventure and more importantly a poignant send off for the characters we’d grown to know and love. This culminates in one final scene as Kirk and co stand on the bridge looking directly into the camera an almost smashing down the fourth wall in the process. It’s an emotional acknowledgement of the audience that’s followed by a voiceover, which expertly passes the baton to the Next Generation.
