Mick Jagger was yet to come to terms with encroaching middle age by the mid-1980s and had taken to making disparaging remarks about the Stones being stuck in the past.

It wasn't until he announced plans for a solo career, however, that a full-scale feud with Richards kicked off.

So enraged was Richards by Jagger's solo album, She's The Boss, that he tried to have Mick replaced in the Stones by Roger Daltrey of The Who.

Thankfully for fans of the band, the public wasn't much interested in Jagger sans Stones, and poor sales ensured Jagger was recording with his old pals by the end of the decade.
