The late, great Amy Winehouse became synonymous with the bars and pubs of north London's Camden Town, the area where she was tragically found dead in her flat in 2011. She was born in Southgate, further north in the city, to a Jewish family in 1983. She attended school in nearby Mill Hill, before moving on to the prestigious performing arts institution the BRIT School in Selhurst, south London, whose alumni include Adele, Jessie J, The Kooks and Leona Lewis.
