November 2011: We Found Love
The video for the single, filming of which is pictured above, also earned the artist the 2012 MTV Video Music Award for ‘Video of the Year’ – though it was not without controversy. While filming part of the video in a field in Bangor, County Down, Northern Ireland, the farmer who owned the land expressed his distaste after seeing Rihanna topless, and asked them to stop filming. The shoot had to be moved to a closed set.
Perhaps more seriously, the video received criticism from the Rape Crisis Centre, who argued that the the video implied that Rihanna and her on-screen boyfriend had an unhealthy, unstable, drug-fuelled relationship.
