In 1937 Graham Greene wrote that, “The owners of a child star are like leaseholders—their property diminishes in value every year. Time’s chariot is at their back; before them acres of anonymity.” But 81 years on from her screen debut in ‘Kid’s Last Stand’, Temple’s legend endures – close to a million DVDs of her work are reportedly sold each year. In 2002, Twentieth Century-Fox honoured the child star and reliably popular royalties nest-egg with a life-size bronze statue in the studio lot.
