Mads Mikkelsen as Le Chiffre (left) proved a worthy adversary to Daniel Craig in his first outing as Bond in Casino Royale (2006). The mathematical genius and expert poker player also turned out to be a dab hand at bondage and genital-thrashing, as Bond was to find out. He also may be one of the most devilishly handsome men ever to have cried blood.
Orson Welles (right) also took on the role of Le Chiffre in the much-derided 1967 comedy adaptation of Casino Royale.
