Two Weeks Notice (2002)
Take one bumbling Brit who increasingly begins to look like his Aunt Mildred (Hugh Grant) and one progressively stereotyped actress. Throw them into the workplace together and add a spot of tennis to hilarious effect. So goes the recipe for Two Weeks Notice, which was filmed on location in New York over the course of 17 weeks. The movie was originally set to film entirely in Toronto due to cheaper production costs, until Bullock insisted that it must be made in New York City, especially after 9/11 when the city’s economy was struggling. Her ultimatum helped give a boost to local businesses and, in honour of the cast and crew's contribution, December 11th, 2002 was named "Two Weeks Notice" Day by the Mayor. We guess it’s things like this that make her America’s sweetheart and not ours.
