Officer Alex Murphy (Peter Weller) is an idealistic cop whose transfer to Old Detroit results in his murder by a gang of violent thugs. But his employer, OCP (Omni Consumer Products), isn’t done with Murphy, even in death, resurrecting him as RoboCop, a cyborg who cleans up the city’s streets, becoming a hero in the process. But when RoboCop reveals the dirty deal between Clarence Boddicker (Kurtwood Smith), the crime boss who killed Murphy, and OCP executive Dick Jones (Ronny Cox), he is betrayed by Jones who orders a SWAT team to destroy him. But RoboCop, his identity as Murphy now clear, survives and terminates Jones’ employment – and his life – in one of cinema’s most satisfying paybacks.
