Carly Rae Jepsen boycotts Boy Scouts Jamboree
Canadian pop star Carly Rae Jepsen and pop-rock group Train cancelled scheduled appearances at the Boy Scouts of America’s annual Jamboree concert to protest the organization’s ban on gay members and leaders. The artists were under pressure from fans to boycott the event after a former Eagle Scout started a petition that received more than 62,000 signatures.
“As an artist who believes in equality for all people, I will not be participating in the Boy Scouts of America Jamboree this summer,” the “Call Me Maybe” singer tweeted. “I always have and will continue to support the LGBT community on a global level and stay informed on the ever changing landscape in the ongoing battle for gay rights in this country and across the globe.”
