Fassbender’s first major acting project was playing a soldier in the Tom Hanks/Steven Spielberg miniseries Band of Brothers, a then-breeding ground for up-and-coming talent like Damien Lewis, James McAvoy and Tom Hardy. Some of the movies that influenced him to go into acting included Flash Gordon and E.T., but before his big break, Fassbender went through a period where he wasn't sure if he was going to make it as an actor at all, notably while working odd jobs like bar tending and telemarketing.
