What it predicted: Modern computer games, flat screen TVs, self-lacing sneakers.

We may not be using hoverboards or handing over our hard-earned money to enjoy Jaws 19 just yet, but Marty McFly’s brief sojourn to the future back in 1989 has still proved to be an accurate piece of future gazing. As well as wall-mounted flat screen TVs, the movie also foretold the future of videogames with characters using controls not unlike Microsoft’s Kinect. Even Michael J Fox’s coveted sneakers became something of a reality with Nike releasing their fan-dubbed Air McFly’s in 2008 and even filing a patent for a self-lacing system in 2011.
