Leo's fourth Scorsese collaboration, following 2006’s The Departed, Shutter Island tells the not entirely successful tale of a manhunt in a mysterious hospital for the criminally insane. Regardless of the film’s few weaknesses, DiCaprio’s psychologically tumultuous performance as a hunted US Marshal totally holds it together.

“Usually when I’m on a movie set,” said Leo of Shutter Island’s shoot, “I’m able to detach myself from the process at the end of the day and go home and learn my lines for the next day, but this situation was a whole lot different. There were a couple of weeks when I was in a hole and it was the deepest I’ve ever gone with a character, emotionally.”
