Eddie Murphy is not cool now; there's been a lot of Norbit to wade through since Beverley Hills Cop. But in 1985, he was closer to his best: great acting, great standup, great comic albums. He must have thought the move to singing with How Could It Be was easy and, with Rick James and Stevie Wonder on the album, all but in the bag. Unfortunately, it's a singing donkey of a record. 1980s smooth soul is not a genre that has aged well. Today, it's all but unlistenable. Didn't stop him making another one though.
