Actor Paul Walker, best known for starring in The Fast and the Furious movies (aka, Fast & Furious ), has died in a car crash near Los Angeles. He was 40 years of age. Publicist Ame Van Iden says the star died on Saturday afternoon.
The news was confirmed to fans via his official Facebook page: "It is with a truly heavy heart that we must confirm that Paul Walker passed away today in a tragic car accident while attending a charity event for his organisation Reach Out Worldwide."
The Los Angeles County Sheriff's department stated that two people were killed in a car crash; Paul was a passenger in a red Porsche driven by his friend Roger Rodas, who also lost his life.
"All of us at Universal are heartbroken. Paul was truly one of the most beloved and respected members of our studio family for 14 years, and this loss is devastating to us, to everyone involved with the Fast and Furious films, and to countless fans. We send our deepest and most sincere condolences to Paul's family."
Paul was working on the latest Fast & Furious film at the time of his death. He is survived by his 15-year-old daughter, Meadow.
