#1 Gary Oldman is on board

Breaking news! Gary Oldman has signed up to play Norton, the scientist who creates Robocop and finds himself torn between the ideals of the machine trying to rediscover its humanity and the callous needs of a corporation. This role was nothing more than a bit-part in the original but Oldman will be right at the centre of the new RoboCop story which will dwell far longer on the transition from near-death cop to bad guy pummelling robo-badass. Oldman's name alone adds a ton of gravitas to the whole project.
