1961: Beatles finalise lineup
Welcoming George Harrison and Pete Best to the newly founded group, The Beatles began gigging in Hamburg, Germany. The band returned to their hometown of Liverpool in 1961. Original bass player Stuart Sutcliffe left the band and McCartney reluctantly changed from lead guitarist to bass player. By November the band had invited Brian Epstein to be their manager. Epstein created The Beatles image and secured them a record deal with EMI.
