California dreaming

The next chapter in Perry's life, and the point from which her Part of Me movie picks up, began with her California Dreams tour. This gruelling 124-stop tour started its journey in February 2011 and traversed the globe for almost a year. After marrying Russell Brand in an Indian hindu ceremony only three months earlier, the touring schedule was tough for the newlyweds, which is well documented as the narrative arc of her film. In one scene, as she's about to go onstage in Brazil, she sobs uncontrollably backstage as her marriage to Brand falls apart, and talks about her dashed desire for a 'fairytale' romance. On the bright side, the tour netted over $59.5 million, and while we know money can't keep you warm at night, that kind of cashola can buy you more than a few Mulberry silk comforters.
