When Katy met Rusty

Urban pop legend has it that Katy Perry first met her husband-to-be, Russell Brand, at the September 2009 MTV Video Music Awards. Brand, who was hosting the night's festivities, remarked, 'Katy Perry didn't win an award and she's staying at the same hotel as me, so she's gonna need a shoulder to cry on. So in a way, I'm the real winner tonight.'

But the truth is that Brand and Perry shared their first kiss earlier than that, in June 2008, when Perry filmed a cameo for his film Get Him to the Greek. Her scene called for her to smooch the bird-nest-haired Brit, much to her delight: 'On the way down the stairs after the scene, I was hopping like a bunny. I hop like a bunny when I'm happy - I get a bit childlike,' she told Glamour. The lip-locking scene was later cut because it would have proved too much of a reality check for movie-goers.
