Ever the chameleon, Hardy appeared in contrasting roles in 2009. In the four-part adaptation of Martina Cole's bestselling crime novel, Hardy was praised for his starring role as Freddie in 'The Take'. He also starred as Heathcliff in a TV version of 'Wuthering Heights'. Hardy had worked alongside Charlotte Riley in both productions and began dating the British actress soon after.
