'The Devil Wears Prada' (2006)

This loose adaptation of the Laura Weisberger novel sees Hathaway cast as Andrea Sachs, an ambitious young journalist who lands the coveted position of personal assistant to Runway magazine editor Miranda Priestly, a thinly-veiled version of Vogue's Anna Wintour. As the 'smart fat girl' Miranda hires, Andrea slowly sees her personal life, including her relationship with her boyfriend Nate (Adrien Grenier: Entourage) go to hell as she finds herself at her boss's beck and call at all hours. Although Hathaway is our protagonist, it was Streep and co-star Emily Blunt who received most of the film's critical plaudits.
