The 1960s TV spy comedy 'Get Smart' got the big-screen treatment in 2008, with Steve Carell (TV's The Office) taking over from Don Adams in the role of Maxwell Smart. The bumbling Max, an analyst at the top secret organization CONTROL, longs to be a field agent like his idol, Agent 23 (Dwayne Johnson), but is passed over until enemy organization KAOS reveals the identities of almost all of CONTROL's agents. Hathaway, playing Agent 99, a veteran operative reluctant to partner with Max, wisely lets Carell generate most of the laughs but is equally charismatic.
