Also in 1994 B.K. (Before Kanye), the Beastie Boys' Adam Yauch stormed the stage in the costume of his alter ego Nathaniel Hornblower, to protest R.E.M's win for Best Direction for the video 'Everybody Hurts.' Mr. Hornblower maintained that Spike Jonze should have won for directing the Beasties' 'Sabotage' and screamed, 'This is an outrage! This is a farce.' He also claimed to have had the original idea for Star Wars.
