Nominees: Mayim Bialik as Amy Farrah Fowler in The Big Bang Theory, Kathryn Joosten as Karen McCluskey in Desperate Housewives, Julie Bowen as Claire Dunphy in Modern Family, Sofia Vergara as Gloria Delgado-Pritchett in Modern Family, Merritt Wever as Zoey Barkow in Nurse Jackie, Kristen Wiig as various characters in Saturday Night Live.

Even though Emmy has already been kind to Desperate Housewives pip Kathryn Joosten, her passing away as soon as the series stopped filming is heartbreaking and could certainly be the catalyst for the aforementioned "sentimental favourite" scenario being played out

Then there's the everywhere-you-look Sofia Vergara of Modern Family, a favourite this year. And despite my SNL rant one category back, the beloved Kristen Wiig is Hollywood's darling right now (and more "hit" than "miss" on the series).

Bottom line: Rooting for Wiig, but Joosten's passing will get her the win.
