Nominees: Boardwalk Empire (HBO), Breaking Bad (AMC), Downton Abbey (PBS/ITV), Game of Thrones (HBO), Homeland (Showtime), Mad Men (AMC)

Kind of a lacklustre lot, if you ask me. Breaking Bad has a shot due to it being in its much-hyped final season. And Mad Men is always a safe bet. Downton Abbey is the thoroughbred, but it feels like Homeland will be the winner here.

Bottom line: I'd like to see the Academy not be so obvious and bestow some gold upon Boardwalk Empire, but Homeland will take it.
