After a role in the TV series General Hospital, Demi's breakthrough came in the 1985 film St Elmo's Fire which teamed her with Rob Lowe, Andrew McCarthy, Judd Nelson, Ally Sheedy and Emilio Estevez (who collectively became known as 'The Brat Pack').
