A series of singles were released that all gained top 10 rankings followed including Hey Joe and Purple Haze and set the stage for his appearance at the Monterary Pop Festival in California, USA. This performance ended with him holding a burning guitar about his head which re-introduced him to an American audience and made him an instant celebrity. From then on his albums sold in millions in the USA.
