True to his policy of casting women as strong characters, Scott hired Susan Sarandon and Geena Davis (both nominated for Oscars for the roles) to portray Thelma and Louise – a pair of women who flee from their partners, children, jobs and a murder charge and hit the open roads of Arizona in a ’66 Cadillac.
