2011
It was also a case of serious dramas triumphing at the Critics' Choice Awards and big, money-spinning franchises doing well at the People's Choice in 2011. The Social Network won the Critics' Choice Award for Best Movie, despite being beaten by The King's Speech for the Academy Award a few weeks later, while the latter film's Colin Firth and Black Swan's Natalie Portman took home the main acting prizes, as they did at the Oscars.
The critically derided The Twilight Saga: Eclipse took home Favourite Movie at the People's Choice Awards, and its star Kristen Stewart beat the likes of Angelina Jolie, Katherine Heigl, Jennifer Aniston and Julia Roberts to the Favourite Movie Actress prize. Johnny Depp - something of a People's Choice Award mainstay - took home the Favourite Movie Actor prize once again.
