The leading acting prizes at the Critics' Choice once again matched the Oscars in 2005 with Jamie Foxx (Ray) and Hilary Swank (Million Dollar Baby) winning at both. Swank's film Million Dollar Baby took the Best Picture Oscar, but didn't match the feat at the Critics' Choice, with the honour going instead to wine-tasting road movie Sideways.
The Peoples' Choice Awards really broke the always-choosing-a-franchise mould in 2005 by voting Michael Moore's anti-Bush documentary Fahrenheit 9/11 as Favourite Motion Picture, beating the decidedly more light-hearted Shrek 2 and Spider-Man 2 to the prize. Johnny Depp (yawn) took Favourite Motion Picture Actor, while Julia Roberts took the Actress prize.
