Steven Spielberg receives the eighth Academy Award nomination of his career for Best Director for his presidential drama Lincoln, along with Michael Haneke for his French-language drama Amour and David O. Russell for his comedy-drama Silver Linings Playbook, which starred Bradley Cooper. The full list was completed by 30-year-old Benh Zeitlin, for fantasy drama flick Beasts of the Southern Wild, and as Ang Lee, who directed the adaptation of the bestselling book Life of Pi.
