Kelly Clarkson may have been one of Idol's first "ringers," but season seven was the run in which we saw a string of semi-scandals involving semi-pros. Kristy Lee Cook, Brooke White, Michael Johns (pictured) and Carly Smithson (pictured) all came under attack for having not-so-amateur past credentials.

Meanwhile, contestant David Hernandez also attracted some attention for his amateur days in a "cabaret" of sorts, where he received money/single dollars for being naked. He was knocked out of the top 12, which raised some conspiracy theories about the legitimacy of the elimination and public vote.
