Beware: spoilers ahead. Based upon an old Korean folk tale, A Tale of Two Sisters stars Im Soo-Jung and Moon Geun Young as sisters Su-mi and Su-yeon. They have just recently returned from a mental hospital, and their father has taken them to the country to recuperate. Of the sisters, Su-Mi is especially hostile towards his father’s new wife Eun-joo (Yeom Jeong-ah) whom they feel seduced their father as their mother was dying. (Eun-joo was their sick mother’s live-in nurse.) It is revealed that Su-yeon is in fact a ghost, and the evil stepmother Eun-joo soon finds herself tormented the way she tormented poor Su-yeon. Hollywood remade the film, fairly successfully, as The Uninvited (2009).
