The bond between father and son is so powerful it can even transcend species; at least that’s what Pixar’s cutesy cartoon clownfish would have us believe. Despite the gills, the fins and the fact he’s an animated character created to separate us from our allowances; Marlin is the epitome of the over-protective father, an inherently relatable figure whose as familiar above the water line as he is below it. Perhaps that’s why the movie has proved to be one of the studio’s biggest hits; a story that continues to strike a chord with little and not so little’uns alike.
