Away from the main drama and comedy categories, Brits Kate Winslet and Maggie Smith will be hoping to take home prizes for Miniseries or Movies after strong performances in Mildred Pierce and Downton Abbey respectively, while Greg Kinnear must be a favourite for Lead Miniseries Actor after a gripping performance as JFK in Kennedy.

The Daily Show with Jon Stewart could be set to successfully defend its Outstanding Variety, Music or Comedy Series title, while Top Chef faces some stiff competition to hold on to its Outstanding Reality-Competition award with shows like The Amazing Race and American Idol also in the running. Matt Groening creations The Simpsons and Futurama are both up for Outstanding Animated Series, but both shows are long past their best, meaning South Park or Robot Chicken could take the prize.
